Sedation

1. Oral Conscious Sedation

For simple procedures where you need just a little bit more help relaxing, Dr. Mason or Dr. Weber can prescribe an oral sedative for you to take prior to your appointment, so you’ll be feeling relaxed by the time you sit down in the exam room.  As with any time you are in our office, we’ll ensure that you’re feeling comfortable the entire time.

2. IV Conscious Sedation

For dentistry performed under intravenous or IV conscious sedation, we have a wonderful team of specialists in Aurora and the surrounding areas (unfortunately, not done here in our office!) who will administer a powerful sedative via an IV. This means you’ll feel completely calm and relaxed during the procedure—and often times will not be able to remember anything about the procedure after it’s done.  You’ll be in a “twilight” state where you’re able to respond to requests and answer questions—for example, you’ll be able to move your head to the left if the dentist needs you to, or will be able to verbally confirm that you’re not feeling any pain—but will be completely relaxed.  Should you elect to receive IV conscious sedation, you’ll need to make plans to have a friend or family member drive you home, and you’ll need to relax until the sedation is completely out of your system (usually for the rest of the day).
